All of our Stuttering Therapy Resources are developed with people who stutter and SLPs in mind. Knowing that many clinicians are uncomfortable working with stuttering and that many people who stutter wish that they had access to effective, supportive, communication-focused therapy, we founded STR to help SLPs help people who stutter. Along the way, we continue to learn, practice, teach, serve, research, and share our perspective on stuttering and stuttering therapy.
Our Mission
To help speech-language pathologists (SLPs) help people who stutter by offering practical, affordable resources that are grounded in the lived experience of people who stutter, the clinical experience of stuttering specialists, and in current scientific research evidence.
Our Vision
To support people who stutter by sharing speaker-first perspectives on communication and stuttering therapy, and to educate SLPs so that they can be confident and capable in their work with those who stutter.
Our Dedication to Advocacy
Stuttering knows no boundaries. It does not discriminate by age, culture, background, language, ability, socioeconomic status, family status, gender identity, sexuality, legal status, ethnicity, or race. These facts inform our advocacy at Stuttering Therapy Resources.
We are called to elevate and amplify the voices of those who have been unheard for far too long. In our professional work, this means that we work to decrease stigma and raise societal understanding of stuttering and its impact on the lives of those affected by the condition. In our personal lives, this means listening and learning with humility, and working to understand and dismantle systemic racism and other forms of injustice in the institutions with which we interact.
